ETS Southwest Region

I had the opportunity to present a paper at the Southwestern Regional meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society. It was a great opportunity, and learning experience.

My paper was titled "Recycling as an Act of Worship: An Argument from Old Testament Theology". I was a little sad to see that I was put in the "Miscellaneous" category instead of the Old Testament Category. But, since I like to be prescriptive in my interpretations of the Old Testament text, I think the host decided I should be in a different category than the purely descriptive OT papers. I was a little more saddened when one of the OT papers I attended was neither scholarly or exegetical even.

I did have two Ph.D. students and one Master's level student from Dallas Theological Seminary attend my session, and offer constructive criticism. There were a few other people who came by and asked for a copy of the paper too.

The attendees were very receptive to my idea. They did not offer as much criticism as I would have liked, but at least they were encouraging! I hope to post my paper soon, and even put it up as a podcast on Conservative Christian Ecology.
